Case Studies

In the course of the work, Adaptive Environments (AE) diagnosed a variety of reasons for the gap between reliable guidance about accessible pedestrian environments and integration of that guidance in cities and towns across the US. In an effort to generate insights into why it works well in some places, AE undertook two case studies: Cambridge, Massachusetts and San Francisco, California. These are in no way representative but rather snapshots of two unusually committed and largely successful places. These are snapshots of their process for creating accessible pedestrian environments.
