Abstract:

Durability of Truncated Dome Warnings on Existing Curb Ramps is a field study testing four different brands of truncated domes, installed in Newberg, Oregon, for adhesion, damage, and color contrast. One intersection was studied over two years with a different brand of truncated dome at each corner. All brands showed good adhesion and three showed no damage. Only one, Detectable Warning Mat, maintained adequate color contrast; the other three rated poor, poor, and fair on color fading.
