Greenbook Standard Specfications for Public Works Construction

Author(s):

Public Works Standards (BNI)

Organization:

Public Works Standards (BNI)

Rating:

Limited Usefulness

Abstract:

Gives standard specifications for street work and accordingly is of interest primarily to specification writers. The specs do not follow the CSI format in common use by designers so it is unclear how often or by whom the book is used. It may be used by small city/town public works departments when they have not hired an engineer to prepare documents. There is a complete lack of any information about the Americans with Disabilities Act. Neither ADA nor ADAAG was listed in the institution abbreviations section, and nowhere in the balance of the book were there any references to accessibility criteria or guidelines. There are dozens of opportunities within the guide to integrate guidance on accessibility, a situation that could be corrected in future editions.
